Actually, if it was John I. Blair's ghost, he was lost. Blair died in 1899,
ten years before work began on the Cutoff. In fact there was much grumbling
in town about how far away the Blairstown station was from the town center
(over 2 miles). The local paper, the Blairstown Press (which regretably just
died this year), had many letters commenting that "this would never have
happened if John Blair were still alive!"
