Isn't this the ferry still visible (or at least in recent years) from the
Turnpike, lying in shallow water?

Ed,
I believe the photos are in Edison NJ. The background of the last photo
looks like the NJ Turnpike Bridges over the Raritan River. Also, on the
right there is a crane on the dock. This looks like a crane on the Raritan
River docks that was used by the Army when the area was the Raritan Arsenal.
That crane was WWI vintage; it was rotated using a cable on a large (15 ft
or so) diameter wheel at its base. In 1980-81 I worked at Raritan Center
and that dock was a nice place to go during lunch. Nothing at the dock at
that time.
