Randy,
I believe the Delaware Div. is the only practical link between NYS&W's
Southern and Northern Divisions, and perhaps NS approached them about taking over
this part of a railroad that NS obviously has no further interest in
maintaining/operating (maybe NYS&W got a good deal out of the transaction), which makes
sense since NYS&W is still running several times a week over the route east-
and westbound.

I know that up 'till a few years back, there was a sprinkling of on-line
consigees receiving cars (Narrowsburg Lumber is one that comes to mind), but may
have become frustrated over the slowly-deteriorating level of service being
provided by NS.

NYS&W, like the WNY&PA, OC, etc. may be able to gain some of that traffic
back with better service, plus whatever they can do on the Honesdale Branch,
which I thought was no longer operating since Mead closed up (?).
