Conrail made a decision in late 1976 to assign B+B units to the former EL lines east of Binghamton (Maybe west also). Soon the area was flooded with former RDG, LV and PC eight axle units including EL's former GP-35's. A variety C+C units mixed in also, but you could tell Conrail wanted the smaller units here and the high horsepower stuff in the Allegheny mountain area's.
The former PC GP-35's and GP-38's (Even former F-7's) looked pretty worn. in those early years of Conrail they did the job, but I wonder how the climb in an out of Scranton was like when a crew ended up with one of those non-dynamic Geeps in the lash-up? That seemed to happen every so often, but at the same time the train size on the EL had decreased.
Oh, common leased power spotted on the former EL were CNW GP-30's and Geeps, BAR GP-38's, CN B+B units and a few GT units till the NEW Conrail units arrived.

I thaught my post about the PC foisting off its warn out diesel on the
Jersey
Central would bring back some other memories-memories of the PC grabing
the EL's good diesels for its own lines, after Conrail began. That
used to be a popular topic on the former EL.
