(erielack) 2nd Railroad Night

2ND ANNUAL RAILROAD NIGHT COMING TO DOVER’S BAKER THEATER The Dover Area Historical Society is presenting its 2nd Annual “Railroad Night” at the historic 1906 Baker Theater, in Dover, N.J. , on Tuesday evening, September 19th starting at 7:30 PM. Railroad historian and avid railroad photographer, Bob Bahrs, will again be hosting the evening. Special guest will be Bill Greenberg, author of the recent updated publication on the history of the Morris County Traction Company, which was based in Dover but ran all the way across Morris County. Photos of the railroad and trolleys will be projected on the theater’s larger-than-life screen. The second part of the evening will be a then and now presentation narrated by Bob Bahrs. This will feature both Dover and Morris County area railroad photo from years ago and comparing those scenes to what they look like today. Always an entertaining and enlightening experience. Dover has always been a major railroad town starting from the first
arrival of the railroad in 1848 to the present day. At its peak, Dover employed over 400 railroad workers at various locations around town and to this day is a major commuter hub featuring the popular “Midtown Direct” NJT trains. Its hoped you can join us for another fun filled evening at the Baker Theater. Donation to the program is $5 per person with children under 12 free. All proceeds will benefit the Dover Area Historical Society’s museum restoration. For more information, call (973) 829-0040 or (973) 361-6205.
