I can verify what Jeff Mutter says about fares.  As a ticket agent, I
compare NJT/Septa fares with Amtrak, and the difference is astounding.  But
even on NJT, for a party of four going from Morristown to New York, it's
cheaper to drive.  $64.00 for four off peak round trip excursions.
