Seniors go at half fare :  cheaper than car and almost cheaper than staying home.

Edward Mines mentions fares between New York and Morristown; so I'll attach the current numbers.  
A commuter pays $19.00 for a round trip, or $263.00 for a monthly ticket.  An off peak a round trip costs $16.00.  A one way fare is $9.50.  Trains shuttle between Dover and New York on an hourly basis.
