Peter,

Doublestacks aren't necessarily handled as a dedicated move. Lots of stacks 
are positioned for interchange at Ashland Ave yard (or at least were until 
recently), which apparently is in a "bad" part of Chicago. They have to be 
watched constantly for break-ins.

Paul,
I think that this analysis is why the unit trains, both coal and stacks
work so well.  They both fit the direct supervison requirement for  the
whole trip.
