(erielack) EL & Erie 50' double door boxcars

The two earlier dates are both technically correct. In 1935 CGW began service for Chicago-Dubuque Motor Transport between those two cities but it only lasted several months. The following year (July 7 1936 to be precise), service resumed under a different tariff structure, and this time it stuck, inaugurating 32 years of uninterrupted TOFC service on CGW. In later years, much of the traffic was eastbound meat, and many of these trailers were forwarded to the east coast by EL (req'd content). And there's no need to be apologetic about questioning my posts; my info and my sources are not always accurate!

Thanks Paul, very informative. Not to undermine your knowledge or be
argumentive, but I seen two dates for CGW's intermodal onset. 1936 and 1937.
There seems to be some widespread confusion to the date. I seen both dates
in more than one place. Any idea why? Todd
