Can anyone tell me anything about DL&W Hopper 79478 or its sisters in that

Built? By whom? Scrapped?

Curious why you're asking. You have a photo of it, or record of it sitting
somewhere?

Neither the hoppers or the question are really obscure as there were a
couple of thousand of this class of hopper built, by Standard Steel, Cambria Steel
and American Car & Foundry, and more than a thousand of a very similar but
slightly smaller car in the 76000 number series, same builders plus Pressed
Steel.

DL&W 79478 was built by ACF in September 1914.

These were two-pocket, channel-side hoppers, most with T-section trucks.
Westerfield kit 7453 covers the smaller DL&W car exactly, series 76000-77599,
and they come with the four sides cast together. With Al Westerfield's
announced imminent retirement, now's the time to get the kits. These cars were
31-foot, almost 1600 cu.ft., built 1911. The next series, 78100-80949 were
35-foot, roughly 1800 cu.ft, cars built 1912-1914. All had the same family
appearance, the bigger car had three channeled ribs in the center while the smaller
car had one.

Hope this helps ....Mike
