   Just heard on the scanner Norfolk Southern train OI-16 is reporting issues with locomotives 1702 and 1705, these are former Erie Lackawanna SD-45-2's 3672 and 3681 that are assigned to Oak Island here in New Jersey. The engineer is reporting "serious conditions" with both locomotives today, including oil leaks in the generator room, and numerous other issues. He was trying to move the engines to 91 Bay, the former LV engine house to be looked at. At thirty six years old, who knows how many more revenue miles these engines have in them? They just declined his request, and are having the mechanics meet him... who knows where they will end up today? A historical note, the 1705 (EL 3681) was the very "Last" locomotive EL purchased from EMD in October 1972 before the Conrail merger in 1976. Over three decades ago these two may have pulling NY-100 into Croxton right now!  :)
