RE: (erielack) Kodak says goodbye to Kodachrome

Film, like the steam locomotives on DL&W and Erie we all love, was great
while it lasted, but like the diesel, cheaper and more efficient technology
has arrived in the form of digital images and there's no turning back except
for nostalgia.

I went fully digital in 1997, and there mere fact that I can easily find any
photo alone makes it worth it. The most excellent camera you could buy in
1997 was 1 megapixel and the lenses weren't great, so I have a couple of
years of "Kodak Instamatic" quality photos. But since the early 2000s, the
photo quality has been decent (at least for 5x7s), and of course now with 10
megapixel+ and better lenses, it's superb.

It captured many an EL image for us, we all knew this day was coming -
sadly.

Kodak says goodbye to Kodachrome slide film after 74 years.

How many of us still use it?
