Speaking of being off-topic.this certainly appears to be. The Cut-Off 
discussion is much more on topic than this is, as interesting as this is. Even if 
I think this is not on topic, I learned something from this.
 
My suggestion is to keep the doors open and let alll topics of interest run 
their course.  If one isn't interested, hit the delete key. It works nicely.
