Schuyler,
Your initial post did not clearly indicate which cars you were referring to.
My second post was more directed to Paul T and his statement that the cars
were acquired to haul sand, among other commodities. These are the reasons
2-bay cars got into the discussion. Your post also included the words, "And
what other uses may they have migrated to? I think most people would
interpret this as referring to the EL years, since the cars were ordered
just 3 years prior to the merger. I think we did address your question,
including Paul's post about soda ash service. More specific information as
to what shippers they served etc in the years 1957-1960 may be hard to come
by, but perhaps someone has a photo or two that may help.
