Hi all,

A few weeks ago someone had asked about the odd Erie boxcar with the weird
roof platform. Here is a Chuck Yungkurth shot of this car at Port Jervis in
November of 1972. It very clearly shows it was a converted end-door
automobile boxcar, and you can see the platform added to the roof (as well
as what looks like an electrical receptacle? Perhaps for the needle scaling
tools?)

Note the car is stencilled for "M&W SERVICE" - a personal pet peeve of mine.
Isn't it "Maintenance OF Way" (MOW), not "Maintenance AND Way?" :)

Looks like a challenging car for a modeler to make (note the brackets added
to support the walkway). In HO scale, the Proto2000 end-door boxcar kit is a
great starting point for this one.
