I encouraged a friend and Co worker that was going to one of Wick Moorman's
local gatherings three years ago to ask about doing a Heritage scheme
program on the NS, like the UP had done. The answer he gave was, "we are
considering it". I knew upon taking office he immediately got him self a nice
set of ABBA F units, thus I sensed a tinnnnnnnny bit of rail enthusiast in
him, and never gave up hope, and thought that the program would happen.
The lack of a Lackawanna unit is a big disappointment.
Maybe a careful thought out letter writing campaign to Mr Moorman,
explaining that the NS wouldn't have a terminal in Buffalo if they weren't on
former Lackawanna property. They wouldn't have a New England connection or a
Buffalo to Harrisburg line if their trains didn't run over the CPs former
Lackawanna line between Binghamton and Scranton. That locals from Suffern
NY and Dover, NJ traverse NJT track that is former Lackawanna, and they own
other small sections that are 100% former Lackawanna. ( B&P, Washington
Secondary ) Just because a majority of these tracks are not out right owned
by the NS is a sad way to say your not going to be included. It should be
the Heritage of the actually line that should be portrayed. The fact that
the EL scheme is close to the Lackawanna's should not enter into it AT all.
The Lackawanna was a big part of the EL. Heck, if you go with the freight
scheme applied to the F3s in Scranton right now, it's entirely a different
scheme, just with the same three great colors.
You know the old saying, if you want something bad enough write your
Congressman. Well it can't hurt to let Wick know he is disappointing a lot of
fans. You can bet the NS would never consider forgetting these trackage
right lines when it comes to producing there corporate map.
I think a letter addressed to
Wick Moorman
Three Commercial Place
Norfolk, VA 23510
would find his office.
I'll be composing mine this week.
