List,

Attached is a photo and short article on a Pennsy trackmobile, powered by battery. This was developed in 1913 for city switching where there was light rail or smoke restrictions. Prior to this the Pennsy used horses or mules for the switching. Did the Erie or DL&W run into simular problems? Did they have trackmobiles? I know the DL&W used mules in their mines but did the Erie or DL&W use horses or mules for switching?

In Buffalo the DL&W had three swing bridges over canals and used horses to swing the bridges before they were electrified about 1907.
