Subject: Passenger trains meet at Corry.
"Passenger_Trains_at_Corry_001.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1266x975 (24bit)

I recently obtained this 4x5 negative in a large quantity of negatives that
I purchased. The date and the photographer are unknown, but it appears that
this is in the mid-50's. It's taken at Corry, PA and with the shadows and
the lighting it must be Train #5 and #2. In 1955, these trains were due to
depart Corry at 737AM and 745AM, respectively. (Train #7 and #8 had close
meeting times at Corry, and either could be notoriously late from the heavy mail
and express, but neither carded a Pullman in the mid-50's, and they were
mid-day trains.) The train on the left of course is the eastbound. The Pullman
Porter and the flagman of the westbound are enjoying the sunny morning. The
trees appear to be bare so it must be late fall.

The Railway Express Agency building still stands today, but nowhere near as
stately as in this photo. One track remains at Corry presently, with about
two trains a day.

Corry was one of the snowiest locations on the Erie Railroad and M of W
forces had to continuously plow the road crossings on the yard tracks to avoid
derailments due to ice and snow clogging the flangeways.

It would be good to put a date and photographer's name on this photo.

Loyd Mitchell---could that be you seated on the business side of the 828?
