Pat,

Here is a 1983 photo of some ex DL&W men at the NJT Rail Picnic at Hoboken in summer 1983. This would have been shortly after the big rail strike that took place in Spring 1983. Recall that Conrail exited the passenger business on 12/31/82 and NJTRO took over actual train operations at that time.

Left to right sitting around the table are Engineers Don Kelly and Bill Warrick and Conductors Alan Best, Bill Morgan and Ron Smith.

I was given this photo (as well as about 20 others from this event) by Linda Lanza. Linda (who started with EL in 1970) at the time was a clerk for Frank Flynn. She stayed on with NJ TRANSIT until retiring about 2 years ago.

I may have shared this photo previously, but since the audio mentioned Mr. Kelly I thought it was worth sharing again.

Dan, thanks so much for sharing the audio. I hope you have more to share.

He mentions all those great guys, Don Kelly DLW steam engineer 1951 man,

Teddy Sagan, DLW steam engineer 1946, Serfass, that's my buddy Dutch, lives

in Fla.. Herman Cowfleisch (didn't spell that right) was DLW conductor..

Carny was the DLW brakeman that was on the bad Dover head on wreck in 66' that

took the life of engineer Archie Speer.. Dan, I didn't know you had that

recording, It's really great to hear.. Were you with Bill Hopping when it

was made, or did you record it? I seem to be missing some of the list emails

that explain it's origins.
