I was searching around for some old family photographs and found this.
Taken in the summer of 1964, this is train 1015 at Mountain View. It was
scheduled to be there at 5:10 PM and probably was on time. This train was
carrying to milk cars on the rear for Becker's Dairy in Augusta. This
train would get to Netcong at 6:01 and layover there until train 1023 "The
Lakeland" got there at 6:54 and then would become train 1015 and head for
Newton with passengers and then work Becker's creamery. In the distance on
the Greenwood Lake track is another train waiting for clearance to move
east. This train arrived in Mountain View as No. 1405 at 4:18, headed up
to Wanaque-Midvale and then deadheaded back to Hoboken. This was the end
of the era where commuter trains also carried freight.
