I rode Metro-North's Waterbury (CT) branch on March 30 this year. While
there, I wandered around the yard and found the sun right to photograph a
rail used by the freight carrier there (Springfield Terminal, IIRC).
Metro-North DOESN'T use this track... BTW, a section of the Naugatuck
River looks a lot like the Delaware Water Gap.

The rail reads "L.I.& S.Co. S.W. Scranton. 10 98." That's 1898...

The Lackawanna Iron and Steel Company was established in Scranton, PA, by
the Scranton brothers. It was closely related to the DL&W since the
Scranton brothers established the railroad as a means of transporting
their iron and steel products to market. Later, the steel company moved
to New York state, and the town was named for the company.
