Ed,

This flat car is in MOW service, and cars in the 444--- series were used to
transport small pieces of wheeled MOW equipment. They were usually painted
orange. They typically had two rails laid down on the deck of the car. See
the attached photo of car 444119 with such equipment. The box under car
444122 looks like a tool box to me. Before being converted into a flat car,
this was probably a typical 40-foot box car.
