This is Monday of the last week of September; most of the pig trains are not
operating through HF, but at a glance, looks like a regular day otherwise.

WB Fleet:

TC-99: 4h30m AOS with a fairly light train, 2.3hpt, normally at 0627 he's
just coming off the River line, may have gone via the hillier but shorter
Main Line. Will operate via 1st District, no reason given.

SC-99: Dp HF 15" AOS, also via 1st District, due to s/o and p/u at
Leavittsburg, where the yard is at the west end of the 1st District and more
easily accessed from there.

PO-87: to Dp PO with its customary pair of F units

NE-97: will be right behind him with a trio of BN SD45's that came through
HF early on 3rd trick with NE-74 and turned at PO rather than CX. With 51
cars of mostly empties it will soon overtake 87. He has 25 Lima's, 13 GN's,
9 Huntington's, 4 Hammonds and 2 cabs.

EB Fleet:

TC-100: Big train, 119 cars, 7349T; despite only 0.8 hpt, is just 15" late
dp HF. You'd think there'd be more power available on a Monday, but perhaps
it's just not in the right place.

NY-100: Light Sunday night edition with mostly rubber interchange at
Chicago. 14 "PB-100 frt" indicates the D&H interchange has carload as well
as TOFC (it often had a carload fill on other days) and 23 CX. Dp HF 30"
AOS, and takes advantage of absence of opposing traffic to operate on WB
main under Form 19 authority so it won't get stuck behind that slow-moving
TC-100 if something goes wrong. Will give it a straight shot at CM onto the
hillier but shorter Bear Lake line, child's play for at least 3 hpt.

PO-98: Not far behind at HF is PO-98, another under-powered drag with a lone
U33C, 0.7 hpt. Like TC-100, will be taking the low-grade C&E at CM.

SFE-100: No ID crew today, running about 90" late at Kent. Power is a ?
mark, 319 must be a typo. Can't be 3319 as I don't think the U36C's have
been delivered yet; I doubt they'd use an S1, if so it would need to refuel
at HF. All PO and CX and add 11 PO.

PN-98: Plenty of power on this train. Looks like he Dp GN early but must
have had work enroute since about 30" late at Kent.

BM-9: Preblocked at BX with 22 Lima, 28 GN and 1 Hammond.

Response to Paul's comments--

Would be nice to see the actual train sheets. I can't believe that TC-100
would pull up Randolph Hill (Randolph to Steamburg,NY) and make it without
help. Good move with NY100 on track 1 from Meadville Yard to CM. Probably
passed TC-100 (who had a 45 min head start) half way to Corry.

SF-100 Yes, must be a typo (manual typewriter). The U36C's were not
delivered yet.

From Jim's turnover--

Two Drag-ups working at Cleveland--identified by cond name-_Ray Ketzel and
Dave Marchbanks. First two pulls to North Randall (one for each crew) was
to be 50 and 50 YS&T Brier Hill Works for #2 Cannons and #3 Dock. YS&T
called Jim and wants first train to go to Campbell Works. JJD (Cleveland
Trainmaster Jack Dorsey) notified to have the next two drags "billed" to
CWKS. This type of change happens occasionally by YS&T and RISCO. Ore is
not all the same. Different flux and composite in different types of
taconite pellets so they usually take what they order. Campbell Works has
three blast furnaces working vs. Brier Hill's one furnace so they must be
short on ore.

Note that Steamer Mauthe is unloading and YS&T now wants 150 for Campbell
Works rather than 100.

A noon Randall Turn moving hoppers to Randall and returns with 100 CWKS.
Jim notes the difference is that Campbell Works cannot dump heavier cars and
Brier Hill can. I mentioned several days ago about some plants could not
take certain cars or had weight restrictions. If that is an interest to
anyone, I can provide detailed info on it at a later date.

Steamer Coulby waiting at River Bed for Mauthe to be done. Coulby makes 222
ore for Shenango, Inc at Neville Island, PA (Near PGH via P&LE Youngstown).
1430 Hrs River Bed Dock lost power--waiting on Cleveland Electric
Illuminating to make repairs. All equipment is electric--three narrow gauge
locomotives, Huletts, etc.

Another Randall turn to be called at BR, moves hoppers to SP, return with 50
CWKS and 30 BRS. (Brier Hill Steel Works)

XN turn--big train, 10 Greenville, 47 Ferrona, 47 Shenango, will bring back
40 Ohio Works coke,

93 from MEadville at 0530 had a full day's work---worked at Ferrona, Brier
Hill (plus changed some power at DO shop) and picked up (hoppers) at
Deforest. Meadville crews could only make one pick up and one set off on
first-sub so Brier Hill Yard crew would have done the work on the train
while engines were at shop.

Jim notes two work trains out of Leavittsburg the next day (and probably
today also). That is reason for all the trains on the first-sub.

Ore from Creston now due this evening.

Busy day on the first-subdivision. Second trick DS would have his hands
full. May have been Cliff Redanz or myself----------
