Folks,

Here are some answers to your questions:

* The Proto 1000 units utilize the same drives as the Proto 2000
units - the only difference is that the body does not have all the separate
detail that the P2K units do.
* Not having run these, I pulled out my "Mark V Test Track" (a loop
of Atlas 22" code 83 snap track with a standard DC power pack :) onto my
family room floor (see attached photo - another shameless opportunity to get
my daughter and the family cat into a photo :) The units run quite nicely.
For comparison, I tried running other units (an Atlas RS-3 from their most
recent run, an Atlas RS-1 from a recent run, and an Atlas H16-44) together,
and they mate very well. In fact, the P1K and Atlas drive trains appear to
be virtually identical, operationally speaking. I didn't try a Kato unit for
comparison, however.
* I took a closer photo of the front of the 911 (see attached
image). You can see the nut-bolt-washers cast into place on the end, and you
can make out the hole beneath them in some cases. But as you can see, no
grab - you have to do that yourself.
* Cal-Scale makes the correct Erie/EL marker light castings (and
drop steps/end stanchions, too) for these units.
* Not sure what the color matches are.

- Paul
