Northeast Ohio Historic Passenger Rail Conference, November 9, 10, &11, 2012

Historic lectures about the railroads, passenger trains and passenger cars
which have operated throughout Northeastern Ohio: A&GW B&O EL NKP NYC PRR and
W & LE and the Interurban operations Northern Ohio and Y&S, including the
predecessor railroads and Amtrak

Displays of railroad art, memorabilia, operating layouts and model trains
including some of Mack Lowry.s Railways of America O scale collection formerly
displayed and operated at Quaker Square

On Friday November 9th begining at 8:45am at Quaker Square there will be
presentations. After the field trip to Cleveland on Friday evening in Parma
there will be slide shows of passenger trains and passenger cars which have
operated throughout Northeast Ohio. The event will be held at the Parma
Memorial Hall at 6617 Ridge Rd. in Parma, Ohio, entrance is around back.
Guests will be treated to the sights of passenger trains of many railroads
that traversed this area including the Erie and EL. Please bring 36 slides of
passenger trains to show. Slide show will start at 8 PM and is free to
everyone.

On Saturday November 10th additional presentations about the A&GW, Erie and EL
will be made by David Mangold and Michael Connor. Cost to ELHS members is $40.
That evening at Quaker Square Station a reception and dinner featuring
railroad dining car menu selections including baked Indian Pudding from the
Erie Dinning car service. Dr. Craig Sanders as featured speaker on Passenger
Trains of Indiana will be followed by a presentation by Marty Surdyk titled:
NE Ohio Passenger Trains and Excursions. Many of these excursions were
Midwest Railway Historical Foundation events. MRHF was the predecessor to our
current MRPS. Marty Surdyk is the son of William Surdyk who was a long time
MRHF member. Cost to ELHS members is $40. Registration for dinner only can be
made online using the registration form or by calling Dave at 1-330-819-3423.
Payment can be made at the door with deadline being Wednesday November 7th.

There will be Historic field trips and tours on Thursday, Friday and Sunday to
various locations throughout Northeastern Ohio, to visit libraries, museums,
displays, operating layouts, train stations, historic sites and passenger
cars.
