List,

Back in March, Tim Stuy asked if a test train was run to the Playboy Club in Vernon, NJ, using
in part the Sussex Branch. I came across an article in the July 3, 1973 issue of the (Dover)
Daily Advance concerning the Erie Lackawanna's wanting to abandon the branch which
references this topic.

Promoted by Thomas Taber, who at the time was the chairman of the Morris County Board of
Public Transportation, the proposal got as far as the EL and the Lehigh & Hudson River Railroad
agreeing to do a trial run in December of 1972. However, the trip was never run. According to
the story, the EL wanted to check the condition of the tracks before proceding and that by the
time of this story interest in the project had diminished.

I've attached a scan of the entire story. And yes, it wrongly states that the part of the branch
north of Andover was abandoned in 1962.
