By MICHELE CANTY
Two chapters in York County=92s history were celebrated Sunday with a cer=

Junction Railroad Station.

Station dedication
Earlier Sunday at the Junction in Hanover, a large crowd gathered to
dedicate the station, which played a popular role not only in York County=
=92s
history but also in U.S. history.
Hunt Valley resident Greg Tiffany rode his bike to the dedication. He sai=

he enjoys talking to the Civil War re-enactors that bring history to life=

Every chance he gets, he attends similar events.
During the Civil War, more than 10,000 wounded Union and Confederate
soldiers were processed through the station. The station also was raided =
and
burned by Confederate Col. E.V. White, days before the battle at Gettysbu=
rg.
President Abraham Lincoln visited the station in life, when he passed
through on his way to and from Gettysburg to give his famous speech, and =
in
death, when his funeral procession edged through the station years later.
The Junction, which has been under restoration since the 1980s, is schedu=
led
to have water and sanitary service added to the building next year.
