Metroplex rail set to roll Monday

The Trinity Railway Express will offer passenger train service between
Dallas and Fort Worth for the first time since The Crimson Limited
interurban shut down in 1934. After a 67-year absence, passenger trains will
travel between Fort Worth and Dallas on Monday as Trinity Railway Express
service is extended from Richland Hills to two downtown stations in Fort
Worth.

The openings of the Texas & Pacific Station and the Fort Worth Intermodal
Transportation Center mark the realization of the original vision for the
line: to offer commuters a rail line linking the two major Metroplex cities.

Although Amtrak's Texas Eagle runs through the Metroplex, interurban
passenger rail has not stopped in Cowtown since The Crimson Limited,
operated by Northern Texas Traction Co., was shut down in 1934.

Service will focus not only on delivering commuters to their jobs near
Dallas/Fort Worth Airport but also on connecting entertainment centers such
as Fort Worth's Sundance Square and the West End in Dallas. One of the
original considerations was to offer riders the ability to avoid paying to
park their vehicles.

Free park-and-ride lots are offered except at Union Station, Medical/Market
Center Station, Victory Station and the Intermodal Transportation Center.
Fares are $4 for a round-trip ride between Tarrant County stations and
Dallas County stations. or $2 within one county. D/FW Airport is considered
part of Tarrant County. One-way tickets are $1 per county. -THE FORT WORTH
