Re: (rshsdepot) "Albany and Her Railroads"

Speaking of Albany, I received a note from a NYCSHS trustee that the current
railroad history show at the Albany Institute of Art is really quite good -
sounds like anyone near Albany might want to grab the excuse to attend. Note
there's actually a series of 3 related shows.
The museum's website at http://www.albanyinstitute.org/exhibits/trains.htm
has address, hours, etc.

ART: WEST FROM ALBANY Mass transit, industrial revolution, westward
expansion, great fortunes and the romance of railroading give substance to
the new exhibition at the Albany Institute of History and Art in Albany. The
show consists of three sections telling how railroads like the Mohawk &
Hudson (chartered April 17, 1826) and the New York Central, left, made their
mark on the life and the economy not only around New York's capital but also
across the United States. "Picture It!," which runs through Sept. 28,
consists of photographs that document engines, trains and people in 19th-
and 20th-century regional railroading. "The Art of Train Travel," through
Sept. 28, offers the paintings, posters and other art created by railroads
to induce Americans to travel by train. And "Engines of Change: Capital Area
Railroads and America," through Nov. 2, arrays paintings, photographs,
ephemera and other objects to survey important people and subjects.
