(erielack) ELHS Marion Day

The ELHS is inviting everyone out to Marion, Ohio on May 14 to enjoy a day of railroading and history for our first ELHS Marion Day. Renowned for having 3 major busy rail lines located on 3 sides of the station, the day should provide a rewarding experience for all, regardless whether you're your a railfan, photographer, or just a casual observer.

Several members of the Marion Union Station Association, who are also ELHS members, will be on site to provide information the on-going station renovation, show how AC Tower worked (both the station and the tower should be open), as well past and current rail operations.

The day will start at about 930-10am and go through the afternoon, highlighted by a planned open slide night starting at dusk - everyone attending is welcome to bring their favorite slides to show.

Although not firm, I'd like to see about grilling burgers and hotdogs if anyone has a grill they'd like to volunteer, I'll pick the cost of supplies and food (Soda is available in machines in the station).

I'm going to see about getting an insert into the next mailing of The Diamond, but mark your calendars now. I'll provide additional details as we firm them up.

Any questions, contact me off-list.

Hope to see you there...
