(erielack) dl&w in bingo

"Largest on line customer" is saying a lot, when you consider Ford Mahwah
and the steel mills in the Y'town area taking in trainloads of iron ore.
Approx how many carloads of soda ash did this plant ship on a daily basis?
In 1956 Lackawanna bought 100 50' 70 ton CH's from ACF (EL 18000-18099
series) specifically for this service, which they continued in for the
duration of EL. Some of the 21800 series Greenville cars built for Erie in
1957 were also used, and I believe also the 25 20000-series cylindrical CH's
of 1964 (the red ones). Does anyone know of an HO model(s) for the first two
groups?

YO yard was busy 3 shifts a day because allied chemical (solvay
process) in syracuse was the company's largest on line customer -
many cars of soda ash traveled from syr to bingo where they would
have to be broken down for distribution in different directions - if
i remember correctly there were 2 syr/bingo trains each way every 24
hours - ralph mcclive
