RE: (erielack) Phoebe Snow Fire in 1962?

The Hubbard, Ohio fire may have been after Trains 1 and 2 were
cancelled. Usually the Tavern Lounges didn't make it that far west.
Just before cars 789 and 790 were sold I saw them in Hoboken. One of
the Tavern Lounges had a piece of plywood across the back door. I
decided to investigate and found that the carpet in the middle of the
lounge area had a large burned area. Most of the furniture had been
removed. There was the smell of fire throughout the car with carbon
accumulated on the walls and ceiling. The glass wall between the
passage way and the Tavern Section had been smashed. It was safety
glass and their were thousands of pieces of glass all over everything.
I honestly thought that was the end of the line for the car but
apparently the fire did not damage its structural integrity.
