(erielack) Passenger train questions

In the above link, is the first car a DLW baggage?  The date 
id's it as May 60, 4 1/2 months before the merger.  Was it common practice or 
was this happening becuase of the pending merger?

Also on the DLW E8's top light fixture, when was the red light used?
