RE: (erielack) West Boonton Yard... then and now

The "post-1970" cars are very similar to the old Athearn models, with
full-length frame. However the Athearn cars were 62', while the cars in the
photo appear to be at least 10' shorter than that. If you can find some of
the Athearn cars it would be a relatively easy kitbash: just remove the
ends, cut about 5' off each end, then reattach ends. Remove a similar length
of the frame. Apart from redecs of Athearn cars by CM Shops, I'm not aware
of any other models of this car.

I remember you posting the later photo about a year ago. IIRC that's the
movable bridge at WR (West Arlington) over the Passaic River on the NY≷
it pivots around the center support. Was this a common design? I don't
recall seeing others like it.

As promised, here are the pictures. The top half of the image shows the
"old" water bottle cars - like I said, looks like a 10K gallon car similar
to the offerings from Proto 2000 in HO scale.

The bottom half shows three of the "modern" (post-1970) water bottle cars.
Note the crudely spray-painted "W" on the ends of the car signifying the
water service duty. Are these the old Athearn 53' tank cars? Or is there
anything close in HO scale for these?
