Re:RE: (erielack) PA MU Conversion



Larry De Young, in The  DIAMOND, Vol. 19, # 2, reminds us that Erie bought its second batch of PA1s in the fall of 1949 for mainline secondary passenger trains and to protect the E8s when one of them had to go down for service.  Therefore, the PA1s almost certainly came with compatible MU capability.  Beginning in 1958, Erie did add a modification: the ability to MU at the nose.

THanks Paul...Thats interesting, I thought PA1s wer built with Pnumatic MU and then were converted to Electric to MU with E (or F?) units....
