RE: (erielack) New Athearn GP-35 in EL GMY



The 2556 did indeed wear its as-delivered pant into Conrail (with the
exception of the numberboards).

As for the GP35s... Since we're referring to the first batch (that's the
phase Athearn is doing), here are the latest dates I have for the GP35s in
as-delivered paint:

2551: 3/71
2552: 10/69
2553: 11/72
2554: 3/73
2555: 5/71
2556: 11/76
2557: 4/71
2558: 11/71
2559: 8/72
2560: 3/72
2561: 11/73
2562: 5/65

All units got the white numberboards by the early 1970s, though.  I'm
actually quite surprised, now that I researched this, how late most of the
GP35s lasted in the maroon lettering scheme.

If anyone has later dates, please let me know!
