Here is the final authority on NJ place names:

While looking through the below site of the NJ Historical Society photo
collection, I found that Totowa (on the Boonton line) had two photos listed:
1) "Historic marker-North Jersey Training School for Mentally Deficient
Girls- WPA nurses;
2) Old Chicken Barn Restaurant

would any local history buffs care to comment on them?
Totowa means "It is between" (river and mountains),
not to be confused with Towaco (also Boonton Line), named after a Native
American tribe (Towaken) or chief, whose statue has long graced the Orange
County Fair in Middletown. see bottom of this link:
