Re: (erielack) Walking as the mode of transport



Well almost no choice, he could have ridden a horse, donkey or mule had 
he had one available. Was there maybe more to the story about why he had 
to walk? Like to survey work he was doing? In the 1820's riding horses 
wasn't new technology, just ask Ghengis Kahn.

FYI Jay Gould also did a lot of walking from Roxbury, NY to and 
including the Albany area. Early in his career he was a surveyor and 
cartographer.
