Detouring over the old DL&W routing for New Haven traffic via Andover Jct 
and the L&HR would have saved significant mileage vs detour via Croxton. 
This routing continued in limited use for about a year after the EL merger.

I also can't imagine the EL detouring over the L&HR to get to Maybrook,
but hey, the L&HR detoured over the EL if their line had problems, so
why not?
