1. What will happen to the duplicate material? Will it be auctioned off to
members or used in other fundraising to support the archive?

( Duplicative material (which would probably include, among other things,
employee timetables) would be either sold through the ELHS sales tables
and/or given away as door prizes at ELHS events, depending upon the item,
and the value that it might otherwise generate if sold outright - auctioning
it off to members, as you suggest, is another method we might use also...)

2. What constitutes "Non-related" material? Can you give us an example? If
it involves other railroads, are there possibilities of trades with other
railway historical societies for material that is relevant?

( Through various acquisitions we've obtained over the years from
individuals, we invariably acquire more material from roads other than just
DL&W/Erie/EL/NYS&W +. As a for intstance, one of the boxes we moved this
weekend contained a bunch of PC employee & public timetables...

We also have and have disposed of several general RR books that have a
general appeal to railroading, but it not germane to our group. Other
material in the past we've acquired is military modeling books, airplane
books, aircraft modeling books, all of which are sold via eBay with the
proceeds going back into the Archives fund...

...and yes, we have traded other groups for DL&W/Erie/EL/NYS&W + that they
might have that is not appropriate for their Archives/collection.

We did have several boxes of CNJ material some years back that we had
acquired that eventually was given over to Frank Reilly, who was a former
CNJ employee trying to get a CNJ Archives together, so we do move
non-related material such as that to what we hope are more appropriate homes
than the ELHS Archives...)
